Claudia Bicen Interview

Artist Claudia Bicen joins Richard Brendan. Claudia spent two years meeting with, interviewing, and drawing nine individuals approaching the ends of their lives. In order to answer an oft-pondered question, “How should I live?” – she felt strongly that the dying would have the answer. She contacted hospices across the Bay Area in California, eventually selecting nine men and women who would become the subjects of her heart-wrenching series, Thoughts in Passing. Claudia’s work has been exhibited at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery (Washington DC), the Royal Society of Portrait Painters (London), and the National Arts Club (New York).
